A development application has been lodged for a 22-storey vertical retirement village with co-located aged care at Southport on Queensland’s Gold Coast. The village from private developer Rays Projects will comprise 66 retirement units – divided between 22 three-bedroom units, 33 two-bedroom units and 11 one-bedroom units – as well as 22 units of residential aged care and 16 NDIS units. Also included will be commercial, retail and healthcare spaces; amenities and recreation for residents; and a 77-vehicle carpark.

“The proposed development will contribute to the residential care and retirement facilities within Southport, which is complemented by a wide range of private and public hospitals and subsidiary health and medical businesses within the locality,” said Mewing Planning Consultants in the DA.

Not For Profit operator Bolton Clarke in September obtained approval for a $120 million retirement village at the nearby site of the old Gold Coast Hospital.
