Health officials in Victoria are coming to terms with the major task of contract tracing, with over 935 of the state’s current coronavirus cases without an identified source.
There were 428 new cases reported in Victoria on Friday and three deaths, including a man in his 80s, man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s.
Of the new case, 57 are reportedly connected to known outbreaks, one is from quarantine and 370 cases are still under investigation.
The Victorian State Government sent out a snapshot of new coronavirus cases across Melbourne and the Mitchell Shire.
Among the major outbreaks were 38 cases linked to Menarock Life Aged Care facility in Essendon, 36 cases to Estia Health aged care facility in Ardeer and 23 cases to Glendale Aged Care facility in Werribee.
Five new nursing homes have reportedly found new cases including two linked to Aurrum Aged Care facility in Plenty and single cases to Regis in Brighton, Grace Villa in Greensborough, Baptcare Wyndham Lodge Community in Werribee, and Bupa aged care facility in Sunshine.
The statement from Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt earlier this week that Melbournians and other Victorians are in, “the great fight of our lives” has particular resonance now.
