The national broadcaster reports “cost-cutting and understaffing is being blamed for a case of shocking neglect” at The Tinonee Gardens The Multicultural Village Newcastle. The story covers the treatment of a resident who died in August last year – shortly after the home failed to meet 10 of the 44 accreditation standards. The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (AACQA) also made a serious risk finding against the facility in the same month – the same time its CEO apologised to the woman’s family. The sanction was lifted in February this year. A disturbing story, but one that is nearly a year old – showing again the ABC is determined in its investigation of the sector.
