ACSA has condemned comments by the co-founder of a new website as scaremongering, according to ACSA CEO Adj. Prof John Kelly AM. The new website invites members of the public to give reviews of aged care facilities similar to Trip Advisor.

Kenneth Ray of agedcarereviews.com.au makes the claim that the words “information asymmetry” in the government’s regulatory impact statement on accommodation bonds is “a cute way of saying the public – and our most vulnerable – are at risk of being ripped off”.
Prof Kelly says “This is pure speculation and appears to be grandstanding to win media coverage for its business. It is not helpful to consumers of aged care and their families to have these wild allegations presented as fact”. He points out that the sector is heavily regulated, including unannounced spot audits.
