Aged care bus driver charged over fatal crash on NSW south coast

A minibus driver has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and had his licence suspended following a crash last week in which one aged care resident was killed near Yallah, 20km south of Wollongong.

The bus had been taking 11 elderly passengers to a barbecue lunch in Dapto, but overturned after allegedly clipping a B-double truck travelling in the same direction on the M1 motorway.

An 88-year-old woman died at the scene while seven others were injured, with one passenger flown to Sydney in a critical condition.

The 63-year-old man (a volunteer driver) was granted bail and will now face Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
