The number of vaccinations administered to aged care residents was about half the usual number last week, despite 34% of residents not being fully vaccinated.
The number of resident covid cases rose by six, but staff cases and the number of facilities affected declined. Deaths in the last week were steady at seven.
The data comes as the Department of Health and Aged Care alerted providers that the 2023 “summer supply” of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be distributed from the National Medical Stockpile (NMS) to aged care homes from early September and is expected to be complete by December 2023.
Rural and remote homes will be the first to receive supplies.

The SOURCE: COVID-19 numbers are easing, yet the Government’s distribution of PPE from the NMS tells us that the pandemic is still not over for residential aged care.
