Reports suggest almost 200 home care providers were never assessed against quality standards at the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The Australian reports as of May 12, 182 of the 2,241 active home care services had not been inspected by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC). On Monday Federal Aged Care Minister Richard Colbeck confirmed the ACQSC had acted on medical advice in “ceasing” announced visits to facilities at the height of the pandemic. He was criticised for this from Opposition Aged Care Spokeswoman Julie Collins. “Australians should be confident all homecare providers are delivering high quality care, and safely,” she told The Australian.
