The Sydney North Planning Panel (SDPP) turned down the development application for an 84-bed aged care facility in Gordon, 15km northeast of the CBD after ruling the medium-density plan would result in unacceptable noise for residents, particularly immediate neighbours on the “quiet street”. The proposal was submitted to the local council in 2015 by the Australian Nursing Home Foundation, which has three aged care facilities in Sydney catering to the Chinese and South East Asian communities. However the decision went to the Panel, which oversees regionally significant developments valued at over $20M as well as other developments valued at more than $5M according to the council’s website. Another sign that advocacy groups are having a real impact on the future of developments?
