ANZAC Day marks the end of the Builder Generation as customers of Retirement Villages

This coming weekend will mark a significant change for the sector, with it now safe to say that the long-time traditional village customer, known as the Builders Generation, will have died out.

People who were 18 in 1940 will turn 100 this year. It is fitting to say that ANZAC Day marks the end of their time.

This group are the ones that went to war, built our big infrastructure programs like the Snowy Mountain Hydroelectric Scheme and had parents who lived through the Great Depression.

They were typically stoic and frugal, the opposite to their Baby Boomer children.

Every seasoned Village executive will say what a solid and respectful cohort these Australians have been. Rest In Peace.
