The NSW Nurses and Midwives Association is proud they have just negotiated with [the ex Sisters of] Mercy Homes Albury and Young a 3% pay rise for AIN Cirt 111’s to $20.28 per hour, which equates to $770 per week or $40,073 per year [based on 38 hours per week]. This delivers an additional $1,200 per year to the staff. The Association regards this as a big pay rise, with another 3% being delivered in 2014. Mercy homes can now access the Federal government’s New Aged Care Workforce Compact which will deliver another 1% a year or $.20 an hour. It’s not much for the work we ask for them to do and the care they provide if our senior Australians.
