The provider has announced the acquisition of the 42-unit The Heritage at Hunters Hill retirement village, 9km northwest of the Sydney CBD, from HCF.

The village – which currently has only one vacancy among its two-and three-bedroom apartments – has been operated by Manchester Unity, a subsidiary of the private health cover and life insurance organisation which also previously specialised in funeral bonds.

The Heritage will join Australian Unity’s portfolio which includes 2,400 independent living units across 20 retirement villages in Victoria and NSW; seven aged care homes with 700-plus beds; and a pipeline of new communities in South Melbourne (VIC) and Herston Quarter (QLD).

Australian Unity CEO Independent & Assisted Living, Kevin McCoy said that they plan to provide The Heritage’s residents with a community that is based on a true continuum of care and wellbeing.

“Combined with our Better Together model of service, Australian Unity can provide the best possible outcomes for both our new customers in Hunters Hill and more support options for existing residents as their needs change,” he said.
