The Not For Profit Christian-based organisation has added another 59 independent living units with the acquisition of Walter Skelton Village, in Padstow Heights, 22km southwest of Sydney's CBD.
Walter Skelton Village will be the twenty-sixth retirement village BaptistCare operates.
Established in 1946, Eventide Homes was founded by Walter Skelton and a passionate group of volunteers who worked across Greenacre, Oyster Bay, Riverwood, and Padstow to establish properties to be welcoming, safe and affordable havens for elderly individuals in need. It operated Walter Skelton Village and added an extension, Jacaranda Apartments (with one-, two- and three-bedroom units).
BaptistCare will take over the operation of the retirement community in September (subject to Eventide Homes members passing a resolution at a planned meeting) and will spend the next few months working closely with the team onsite to ensure a smooth transition for residents, including offering employment to existing employees.
“The decision to approach BaptistCare wasn’t an easy one, but we firmly believe that BaptistCare will build on our legacy and provide the additional infrastructure that a larger like-minded organisation can bring,” Robert McPaul, Chairman of Eventide Homes said.
Charles Moore (pictured), CEO of BaptistCare, is thrilled to expand BaptistCare's presence in southern and southwest Sydney.
