Barwon Health to investigate taser incident on resident with dementia ​

Barwon Health will investigate an incident that ended in a 75-year-old resident with dementia being tasered by police at the company’s McKellar Centre site.

Officers were reportedly called to the North Geelong facility on Saturday evening when they received reports that the man was self-harming.

Police confirmed they had found the man with serious injuries and what they described as a “weapon”. A taser was reportedly used after negotiations were unsuccessful.

The man was reportedly disarmed and received medical assistance before being taken to hospital.
