Another golf club has put forward plans to use unused land for seniors living, but may have height challenges.
The 18-hole Championship-quality Belmont Golf Club, founded in 1952, wants to build three and four storey towers for 32 independent living units of different sizes, indoor and outdoor communal spaces and ground floor parking.
There will be four, one-bedroom apartments, 18 two-bedroom apartments and 10 three-bedroom units.
The eastern building is higher at four storeys and overlooks the Belmont Golf and Bowls Club with views of the ocean, sand dunes, native vegetation and lakes.
Under Lake Macquarie council's Local Environmental Plan, a maximum building height of 8.5m is allowed. This proposal would reach 14m, 64.7% higher than the development standard.
