Beware of a new web directory scam – invoices for $99 village listing flooding the sector

In the last 24 hours we have received reports from village operators in VIC and QLD who have received invoices for a web directory listing that they had not authorised. The invoice is for $99, payable by BPAY, Direct Debit, credit card or cheque to a QLD post office box.
In the invoice is a snapshot of the web listing for the villages that includes up to 200 words of text, contact details and a map. It appears that this information has been ‘sucked’ from other web sites without the knowledge of the operators.
The invoices are being sent to the individual villages, not the HOs.
