Robert Putamorsi, the private operator’s Executive General Manager – Business Development, Property and Infrastructure, stepped into the role on 6 August after Adjunct Professor Alan Lilly departed after 23 months in the role. Mr Putamorsi has been at BlueCross|SapphireCare since October 2017 and was previously General Manager – Retirement Communities at Australian Unity. BlueCross was originally founded by David and Cathy Eccles in 1993, while Sapphire Care was run by former corporate banker Tony Battle and Ernest Medina, also the Managing Director of Sapphire Group Holdings which owns Sapphire Care. The two operators announced their merger in August last year in order to “leverage growth and market opportunities” and now have 33 aged care facilities and over 2,500 residents and home care clients across Melbourne, Philip Island and Kilmore.
