Budgets and management top residents calls to NSW RVRA

The volunteer-run NSW Retirement Village Residents Association revealed that the largest number of calls it receives from village residents are about village budgets and village managers. “In the 23/24 RVRA Annual Budget and AMP Survey, we found that many villages’ recurrent charges rose. The lowest increase was 1.98% and the highest 30% with the average increase of 8.29%,” said NSW RVRA Vice President Diane Hart. There was an upward trend in calls concerning village management (~120 calls) and legal issues (~82 calls). During the 12-month period between 1 December 2022 and 30 November 2023 the RVRA received 443 enquiries to its member calls line. These enquiries were answered by the volunteer Board members. The NSW RVRA created four videos on the Resident Committee’s setup, procedures, and roles, as well as the webinar “Best Practices for Residents Committees” to help inform both residents and resident committees.
