Bupa appoints new CEO

The Australia and New Zealand business’s Chief Financial and Strategy Officer Hisham El-Ansary will become Chief Executive Officer in April after current CEO Richard Bowden stepped down after almost 20 years with the company.

Mr El-Ansary joined Bupa in 2008 and has held a number of roles including Managing Director of the Health Services business as well as leading its strategy, M&A and business development.

With Bupa facing its ninth sanction over its aged care homes, he will need to step up quickly.
