Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) has announced the winners of its ACCPA Excellence Awards on Aged Care Employee Day. This year's 15 winners were chosen from 48 finalists and 460 nominations on a day recognising the aged care workforce.

As aged care employers around the nation thank their hard-working staff on Aged Care Employee Day today, Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) has announced the 15 winners of its ACCPA Excellence Awards. On a day dedicated to recognising the 370,000 aged care workers in Australia, the ACCPA Awards have been presented for the sixth year, recognising excellence in key aspects of aged care, including Customer Focus & Care, Innovation, Leadership, Volunteering, and Making a Difference. This year's 15 winners were chosen from 48 finalists and 460 nominations. Among the ACCPA Excellence Awards winners is the Elderbloom Community Care Centre's Jacaranda and Wanneroo teams who managed to speedily evacuate their aged care home during a bushfire near Perth late last year. Curt Schmeissing, Aged Care Assistant, Country to Coast Home Care Services, Victoria, was recognised for his companionship and dedication driving an Anglesea lawns bowl champion to his dialysis appointments for three years. Nickolas Makrynakis, a Fronditha Care volunteer from Victoria, has been using his musical talents to entertain aged care residents in the five years since he lost his wife was also a winner. Dozens of aged care providers have created fun-filled videos to mark the day, including this one from Curtin Heritage Living.
