Independent aged care provider Cranbrook Care hosted the freshly sworn in Governor-General of Australia, Sam Mostyn, at its Lansdowne Gardens on Wycombe aged care home in Neutral Bay on Sydney's Lower North Shore, to share in the joy of a unique program. "We proudly host The Humour Foundation's Laughter Care program at five locations in NSW," said Cranbrook Care CEO Lee Carissa.
"I am honoured to see the smiles and hear the laughter each week, and it was a privilege to showcase this to the Governor-General."
During the visit to Lansdowne Gardens, the Governor-General laughed along with residents through a weekly session with trained Laughter Care performer ‘Monty’, who uses stories, music, props and improvisation to engage with residents and build meaningful connections.

"This initiative is particularly important to us as it brings joy to our residents, especially those who are more introverted or have communication challenges," Lee said. In a social media post, the Governor-General said, "The Humour Foundation seeks to enhance wellbeing, lift spirits and improve health through joyful humour, insightful connection and creative play.
"They make an incredible difference and epitomise the best of care and kindness."
