A 69-year-old homeless man on the Central Coast (NSW) has been charged with two counts of “attempted murder, fraud, larceny and intentionally destroying property with intent to endanger life”.

An ex-resident of a Lake Macquarie manufactured home estate, he filled his car and extra tins with 328 litres petrol and use it to set fire to the home of the couple who owned the village (also located within the park).

The owners were no longer actually living in the house of their adult children with their three kids were in the house when two explosions took place.

The accused man had been a resident of the part for 10 years up to his wife passing away last year. The wife’s son then sold the home resulting in the accused man becoming homeless, living in a public reserve.

He was arrested at the local hospital where the burns to his feet were being treated.
