Fed Govt shelling out millions to aged care “consultants”

An analysis by Australian Ageing Agenda has revealed the Department of Health has outsourced a number of major tenders to consultancy firms to provide “expertise” on reforms for the sector. These include:

• $583,000 to Ernst & Young for a “review of residential aged care legislation”, plus $990,000 for an Aged Care Funding Instrument audit consultancy” from January 2017 until June 2019;
• $366,700 for Deloitte Access Economics to provide an “analysis of unmet demand and the potential implications of uncapping supply in aged care”;
• $205,084 to Applied Aged Care Solutions for “the provision of a review of the Aged Care Funding Agreement” from February to April 2017; and
• $50,000 for Matthew Pegg Consulting for the “provision of legal services on Aged Care Funding Instrument policy development” from January to June 2017.
