The Albanese Government has awarded $25 million in grants for research into dementia, ageing, and aged care.
Provided through the Medical Research Future Fund, the 18 grants will go to projects including an app for older people to recognise signs of dementia; an exercise and falls prevention program for older culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) Australians; and improving medication management in aged care homes through the use of informatics.
“These research projects have the potential to provide real, on-the-ground, benefits to our older Australians, and usher in a new era of aged care.
“It is crucial our best and brightest minds are helping advance the tools the aged care industry can use to provide better environments and resources for older Australians,” said Aged Care Minister Anika Wells (pictured).
