A situation that will be familiar to operators here, but on a much larger scale.

Aged care workers were urged to go on strike by seven unions last week over staff shortages and cost cuts, many saying they are under increasing pressure to cut corners on feeding, cleaning and hygiene care for residents.

The unions also rallied in front of the Health Ministry in France, as the Health Minister Agnes Buzyn labelled the anger “justified”.

Workers already sent an open letter to President Emmanuel Macron last October to warn of an “explosive situation”.

Bupa workers and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) staged Australia’s first aged care strike last October.
