In the spotlight: QLD Premier announces parliamentary review into aged care

Stepping into Federal territory, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has declared that “it’s now time to show courage and leadership to confront an issue that has been avoided for too long.”

“Too many families are troubled by its cost and complexity of aged care in Queensland,” she said.

While no date has been set, Ms Palaszczuk says that the Healthcare Committee will begin looking at aged care, including palliative care and dying with dignity, after the upcoming vote on decriminalising abortion.

The Premier added that the issue deserved the same national attention as she had brought to domestic violence and cyber bullying, and she will be taking it to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG).
