Local property developers, the Mann brothers, have lodged the application for their long-awaited lifestyle community in the town, 550km north of Brisbane. As we covered here, they plan to build 210 RV-friendly homes and 350 units plus a Graham Marsh-designed 18-hole golf course on the 260-hectare Station Creek Lifestyle Resort. The applications cites just 36 new retirement living units for the Gladstone area in the past decade as the reason for the development. Only 2% of the region’s over-65s live in seniors’ housing compared to the state average of 6.5%.
