LASA follows ACSA with its own poll showing 90% of families support restrictions on aged care visits

82% of residents strongly agree or agree with the restrictions, according to the study by the industry peak released the day that the new Visitor Access Code was due to be implemented following last week’s consultation period. The survey also come just five days after the results of a similar Essential poll by ACSA found 69% of the public supported visitor restrictions. The national survey – which focused on residential care and including more than 860 participants – shows found that the majority of respondents ‘strongly agreed’ or ‘agreed’ with the specific decisions of their homes to limit entry in order to protect residents from COVID-19. LASA CEO Sean Rooney says the findings of both surveys show the “strong support” for the measures.

“The LASA survey shows how important the voices of residents and their families are when putting in place measures designed to keep older Australians in care safe,” he said.
