The peak body is looking ahead to the Royal Commission’s workforce recommendations – and they want providers’ help. Leading Age Services Australia (LASA), in partnership with global professional services firm Mercer, is asking all residential and home care providers across regional, remote and urban areas to take part in the Aged Care Workforce Benchmarking Survey. The survey will obtain data on a range of workforce issues – from demographics, rostering issues and staffing costs, to training and incident reporting – with the final report to be provided to the Federal Government. Participants can also opt to receive an Individual Report with specific metrics related to their organisation, which will provide insights into workforce performance and compare them against industry benchmarks. LASA has already signalled that workforce would be one of its priority areas for 2021 and CEO Sean Rooney says that there is a clear need to overhaul the sector’s workforce strategy.
“A strong workforce strategy underpinned by meaningful data is essential for the future of aged care in Australia, in order to demonstrate the kind of reform that is necessary, which has been highlighted by the Aged Care Royal Commission.”
Organisations can register now to participate in the Survey, which will open 15 February 2021 and close 12 March 2021. The Report will be available from 18 May 2021 and will be shared exclusively with registered participant organisations.
