LDK is set to begin construction on its new $250 million retirement village at Yarralumla, Canberra, by February 2023. Remediation works have now been completed on the site, and the Amberfield village – formerly “Yarralumla Views” – is expected to open its first stage by March 2024, according to LDK CEO Byron Cannon (pictured).
“We’re really proud of what we’ve achieved so far in Canberra, but this is really transformational for us and our business, and enables us to expand,” he told the Canberra Times. “There’s a huge under supply of quality seniors living within Canberra, so we feel it’ll be a really good piece of community infrastructure.”
Amberfield will comprise 55 two- and three-bedroom villas and 272 apartments spread across four buildings, as well as parking and clubhouse facilities; additionally, 11 of the apartments will be set aside for residents living with advanced memory loss. LDK expects complete construction to take around four years.
