Leonora independent living village in WA's Goldfields-Esperance region officially opens
WA Labor Member for Mining and Pastoral Kyle McGinn, Shire of Leonora president Peter Craig, Regional Development Minister Don Punch, and WA Labor Member for Kalgoorlie Ali Kent and Leonora residents at the opening of the new Ageing in Place independent living village.

The Ageing in Place village has eight modern independent living units with adjoining private courtyards.

The village style development also features a community hall, communal gardens and barbecue facilities.

The project was funded by $3.5 million from the Western Australia Government's regional aged accommodation program, with $1 million from the Shire of Leonora.

The State Government said the design integrated best practice ageing-in-place principles, supporting residents to live independently in a community village setting.

Ali Kent, WA Labor Member for Kalgoorlie, said the village would support not only Leonora residents but those in surrounding areas, such as Wiluna, Leinster, Laverton, and Menzies. It will connect with local wraparound services.
