The Shire of Augusta Margaret River has approved the site’s structure plan to be considered by the Western Australian Planning Commission as the developer seeks to build his second lifestyle community.
Edenlife Communities, whose Chief Executive Officer is William Marshall, wants to develop and manage a 159-home lifestyle community for people aged 50 years and over (Edenlife Communities state typical age at entry is around 68 years) with a clubhouse and a range of community facilities.
The company, which owns and operates a 204-home community in Australind, 12km northeast of Bunbury, said the proposed lifestyle community would feature an embedded solar energy network providing free power to residents.
Up to 320 residents could be permitted under the Edenlife plan, while the Shire report noted conventional housing would allow 75 lots and about 150 people.
More than 50% of land in the development application would see no development.
If approved, construction is unlikely to start until the end of 2024.
Edenlife states it is planning to release several further communities in carefully selected locations throughout Western Australia.
