Western Australia’s Environmental Protection Authority has given approval for a planned major subdivision on the southeastern boundary in the town of Cowaramup, 12km north of the Margaret River.

The 41ha of land owned by Rodney Duggan, will see more than 350 lots, measuring between 150sqm and 1000sqm, about 4.28ha of public open space, and a lifestyle village-type retirement complex, with almost 1,000 people housed in total.

“Potential impacts can be managed through existing and proposed planning scheme controls and future planning processes including structure planning, to retain vegetation and fauna habitat, and manage the rural urban interface,” the EPA chairman’s findings said.
