Settlement Services International (SSI), a Not For Profit organisation that links people from diverse backgrounds with opportunities, has opened its first Home Care Experience Centre (HCEC) in the ethnically diverse Sydney suburb of Bankstown, 19km southwest of the CBD.
The HCEC will have a technology lab, and will provide training, first-aid training, and drop-in support for those considering a home care career or already working in the sector and requiring assistance.
The service is being provided as part of SSI’s delivery in NSW and ACT of the Federal Government’s Home Care Workforce Support Program (HCWSP), which funds six organisations around the country to help home care providers attract, train, and retain staff.
Iggy Pintado, Head of Home Care Workforce Support Program at SSI, said, “Our goal with the Experience Centre is to bridge any gaps and help fast track the recruitment process, which we know is fundamental to overcoming the workforce shortages in the sector.”
The SOURCE: The HCWSP’s target is to recruit 13,000 new personal care workers by March 2024, which will mark two years since the program was introduced – will it reach this target?
