Yet another Victorian aged care home that appears to have dodged a bullet. As we covered here, a resident at the 40-bed Hawthorn Village aged care home tested positive for the virus on Sunday in Melbourne after being transferred there for hospital treatment. But early testing on the remaining 25 residents and staff has so far produced no more positive results. Staff and residents deemed to have been close contacts now await a second round of testing, with wider staff and community test results due by the end of this week. Alpine Health chief executive officer Lyndon Seys says he remains “cautiously optimistic” of a good outcome.
“Residents are in good spirits and have been very patient with the disruption to their lives,” he said. “Residents are communicating with family and friends and we encourage the community to write letters to keep up communication.” “Staff in quarantine are being supported by Alpine Health and both residents and staff are receiving daily well-being checks.”
