NSW Health updates advice on visitors to aged care homes

Victorians can now visit NSW aged care homes provided they pass the usual screening requirements.

Facilities are still asked to exclude staff and visitors who have:

  • a fever (37.5°C or higher) or symptoms of COVID-19
  • in the last 14 days been identified as a close contact of a COVID-19 case
  • in the last 14 days been in any of the locations on the self-isolate and get tested immediately list, at the times and dates listed
  • in the last 14 days been in any of the locations on the monitor for symptoms list, at the times and dates listed except where noted otherwise
  • in the last 14 days been in a location of interest in New Zealand
  • on or after 7 November 2020 have been in a contact tracing location in South Australia.

Staff are advised to encourage visitors to keep to a residents’ room if possible and not allow more than two visitors at a time.

Providers are also advised to use extra precautions for visitors and staff in or from areas with increased testing – currently, just the Liverpool LGA.
