The NSW Retirement Village Residents Association (RVRA) has been awarded a $125,000 12-month grant from the state’s Department of Fair Trading. The association will use the money, provided for the period from November 2022 to October 2023, to build up its advice and education capabilities, including an Education Centre that will help it work with the State Government to implement retirement village reforms. Additionally, the RVRA has used some of the grant money to appoint former Board member Kate Shane as manager for the project, starting in mid-January 2023; according to RVRA President Craig Bennett (pictured), her appointment will enhance the association’s work.

“Kate has already so much knowledge and background in the RVRA and its workings that her appointment will significantly accelerate the establishment of a solid foundation – both policy-wise and strategy-wise,” he said in an email to members.

The RVRA has also been working with village operators, with Craig himself attending the RLC’s NSW forum in November last year.
