NSW South Coast Council gets to work on new aged care home – 11 years after beds awarded

The Kiama Council will start construction on the Blue Haven Aged Care Centre – using 52 additional bed licences originally awarded back in the 2006 Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR). The 3.3 ha old Kiama Hospital site will be redeveloped with a 134-bed aged care facility, 59 independent living units and 18 assisted living units, next to a newly opened $3.6M allied health centre offering services including dental, physiotherapy and specialist clinics. The $70M project will transfer 82 beds from the Council’s existing 30-year-old Blue Haven Nursing Home to the site, while their co-located 203-unit retirement village will stay in its current location.
