Fremantle Council pulled its Home and Community Care (HACC) scheme last month, and is now taking Expressions of Interest (EoI) to step in to support local residents.

Nearby Subiaco Council also shut down its in-house aged care services last year.

“The changes in the funding model make it very difficult for local governments to offer the same quality of services which larger organisations like Silver Chain and Mercy Care offer,” Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said.

Further evidence that the new National Disability Insurance Scheme and introduction of Consumer Directed Care is having a real impact.
