By day Ray Glickman is a leader in the retirement and aged care space, as CEO of WA’s Amana Living, Chairman of ACSA WA and a member of ACSA’s National Board. By night he is budding author – and we are not talking text books here.
He himself describes his first book to us as “fast paced, punchy and in your face’. And that is exactly what it is, a book that you can’t put down - and it works. Rather than high brow, it is unashamedly racy. Colourful characters, colourful language and more. Not what you would expect from the CEO of a major Not For Profit village and care provider.
But Ray has called on his psychology training and ‘his own experience of bureaucracy’ and ‘interesting characters’ to develop a page turner with a message. Centred on beachside Freemantle (where Ray was previously CEO of the City of Fremantle), the sinister lead character sets out to manipulate six people who don’t know each other as a test of their willingness to be corrupted or self determine their destinies.
ray tells us he is self taught and it took seven years to write ‘Reality’. To his surprise the first publisher picked it up and now he is well into his second book.
Asked why he has written a ‘punchy, in your face book’, he says this is the style he likes to read.
If you like colour, action and some fascinating characters , then you will like Reality too. In fact you can win a copy- just email back to us and we will randomly pick someone and have Freemantle Press mail it out. (‘Reality” by Ray Glickman is on sale now).
