The Uniting Mirinjari aged care home in Canberra has lodged a development application for two households that forms part of larger $5.5 million facility-wide improvements to ensure all resident rooms have ensuites and residents will have a smoother transition to dementia care.
Uniting Director Property and Housing, Simon Furness, told The SOURCE, the modifications will include some extensions as well as modifications to internal layouts.
Residents will be relocating to other households to reduce disruption while the work is underway.
“All residents will remain within the service throughout the works, however never directly within a construction zone,” he said.
“The provision of individual ensuites to all resident rooms became a major driving factor for the project during the pandemic, to ensure residents have quality amenities and assist with any possible infection control,” he said.
Uniting Mirinjani offers specialised care in a dementia household.
