Regis connects with BESTMED for rapid rollout

Regis, Australia’s second-largest residential aged care provider, has partnered with BESTMED to implement an Electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) medication management system in all of its 64 homes across the country. Imtiaz Bhayat, Chief Information Officer, Regis Aged Care, said BESTMED was easy to use and met Regis’s medication management needs. Regis intends to roll the system out quickly, with implementation beginning in late October last year. All 64 Regis homes will be moved to the new system by April 2023.

BESTMED CEO, Phil Offer, said, “During this time of unprecedented change, we understand client project managers need to move quickly onto the next initiative.”

Melissa McDonald, Executive General Manager, Care and Clinical Practice, Regis Aged Care, said BESTMED provided training and helped identify efficiencies in medication ordering and administration – giving “staff time back to care for our residents.” BESTMED is supported with a network of connected pharmacies that provide streamlined sachet-packed medication for each Regis aged care home, without the need for transcribing – reducing opportunities for errors. Implementation coincided with round one of the eNRMC adoption grant funding opportunity, which recently closed early. The Department of Health and Aged Care provided $30 million in grant funding, which is being made available over three rounds to assist providers with adopting a conformant eNRMC solution. BESTMED’s Transitional eNRMC conformant status, and approvals from both Western Australian and Tasmanian health departments, have facilitated the opportunity for Regis to rapidly rollout an eNRMC conformant medication management solution across the country. BESTMED is currently in more than 500 residential aged care homes in Australia.
