An 80-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife, 78, inside a unit at the provider’s Bayswater Village (pictured) in Mount Maunganui, northeast of Tauranga’s CBD, in the country’s North Island.
“This is an extremely sad incident, and we extend our sincere condolences to the families of the individuals involved. We are providing support to our other residents and staff who knew them and have engaged Victim Support to assist,” a Metlifecare spokesperson said.
Jean Salter was found dead on Sunday night. Police remained at the scene yesterday. John Alfred Salter appeared in the Tauranga District Court yesterday afternoon, charged with murder.
