Tasmanian aged care provider Respect has taken over fellow Not For Profit Masonic Care Tasmania (MCT). The merger – which will keep the MCT branding for the time being – will add three residential aged care homes, 250 independent living units, and MCT’s home care services, along with a pair of day therapy centres, to Respect’s portfolio; Respect will now service more than 2,300 clients on Tasmania and the mainland, with a workforce of around 2,000. Klaus Zimmermann AM (pictured), outgoing Chair of MCT, said the two providers were aligned not only in their values, but in their mission and purpose.
“Members recognised the excellent opportunity this merger afforded MCT in terms of long-term sustainability and investment in resources to provide the best possible services for residents and clients. “Respect is widely recognised for its excellent track record and reputation within the aged care sector. Previous mergers involving Respect have proved very successful and beneficial for all involved, and this is part of the reason we initially approached Respect with the proposal,” he said.
