The Retirement Living Council has put together a new guide to political advocacy for retirement villages ahead of elections in Victoria and NSW. A Guide to Political Engagement: How to be a strong advocate for healthy ageing was designed to help residents, staff, and village managers in advocacy efforts, and contains strategies, research and facts that can be used to speak up on behalf of the sector. In the foreword, the RLC says the Guide is “as much a call to action as it is a plan for action”.

“While local politicians often want to hear about issues of importance to people living and working in the communities they represent, sometimes they need a gentle reminder that actions speak louder than words.  A Guide to Political Engagement: How to be a strong advocate for healthy ageing is an evidence-based research and policy engagement resource to empower local retirement village residents, operators and managers to be more effective agents for positive change for better health and wellbeing housing choice, accessibility and affordability,” it reads.

The Guide is available online.
