RSL LifeCare has lodged a development application for a $19 million extension to its Horizons Retirement Village at Dubbo, in western NSW. The extension would see 32 new two-bedroom units added to the village across two stages, with part of the plan – stage seven – superseding a previous application for the site that was approved in 2017, but never completed construction. Stage seven would contain 13 homes, while the following stage would add a further 19 homes.

“The seniors housing development will provide additional housing options within West Dubbo and will assist in facilitating population and economic growth in the region,” the DA reads. “The proposed development is not anticipated to result in any land use conflicts with surrounding land uses and will provide the orderly extension of the existing Horizons Village development in West Dubbo. “The proposed seniors housing will provide additional housing opportunities to Dubbo’s ageing population.”

RSL LifeCare purchased the village in 2017, and has since added a co-located aged care facility.
