RSL LifeCare is set to address a public meeting in Eden on the NSW Far South Coast about the future of its shuttered Roy Wotton Gardens aged care home, also known as Nullica Lodge. The 27-bed home, which was closed at the end of 2021, has been the subject of interest from Anglicare NSW South, NSW West and ACT, though as yet no decision has been made on a potential takeover; 10 years currently remain on its lease. The Eden Recovery and Resilience Alliance (ERRA) has scheduled a meeting on 6 December, where RSL LifeCare will answer questions about its intentions for the facility, according to ERRA chairperson Carina Severs.

“Nullica Lodge is lying empty and has not operated as a functioning facility for almost 12 months. Meanwhile, the housing crisis in the region is growing,” she told About Regional. “We look forward to understanding more about where RSL LifeCare is at with any plans to reopen. We’re an ageing community with critical housing needs and Nullica Lodge is a vital yet currently stranded community asset.”

A spokesperson for Anglicare NSW South, NSW West and ACT confirmed to The Weekly SOURCE that the provider is still interested in purchasing the home to convert into affordable seniors’ housing. RSL LifeCare has been contacted for comment.
