SA: MP candidate pushes for mandatory publication of aged care staffing ratios

Centre Alliance Candidate for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie has promised to introduce a Private Member’s Bill to require aged care facilities to publish full details of their staffing ratios on the Federal Government’s My Aged Care website if she wins the upcoming by-election on 28 July. Ms Sharkie is also working with colleagues to improve training qualifications of personal care workers in aged care. “It will be a significant challenge,” she says. One in five Mayo residents is over 65. Ms Sharkie is clearly gauging the concerns of the community.
