45 years into its operation, The Village Glen – located at Capel Sound on VIC’s Mornington Peninsula – is the largest retirement village in Australia with 635 villas and 231 aged care beds. Its origins however were humble, growing out of Chas Jacobsen’s desire to foster a sense of community for ageing Australians.
“There was no retirement village industry as such in Australia. But America, of course, was 20 years ahead of us,” the 86-year-old entrepreneur tells SATURDAY digital magazine.
