Tinonee Gardens The Multicultural Village at Waratah, 6km northwest of the Newcastle CBD, will take its number of beds to 238 once the project is complete in October 2017. Designed by ThomsonAdsett, the redevelopment includes smart-floor technology to monitor residents’ safety and an outdoor area with a large chess set, tic tac toe and floor piano which residents can play by stepping on the keys. Owned by Hunter Housing Inc and the Ethnic Communities Council of Newcastle and the Hunter Region Inc, Tinonee Gardens has been operating in the Hunter since 1991.
