More support for aged care visitor restrictions – from an unlikely (or likely) source. Anthony Bowe, the son of a resident at the aged care home who has COVID-19, appeared on the national broadcaster’s flagship program on Wednesday night, saying that “under no circumstances should nursing homes be open to visitation”. “If this is repeated anywhere else, this could get out of control real quick and the elderly just aren’t surviving this,” he told host Leigh Sales. “We’ve got to do everything we can to not let any another facility go through this.” “You’ve got to err on the side of caution with this one because it’s life and death,” he concluded.
Mr Bowe wants family members to have access to loved ones, but recommends the use of WhatsApp or window-to-window access – which is now being offered at Newmarch House.
